Young Kolot Takes Podium at Genk

10-year-old national karting driver Ömer Asaf Kolot was at the Genk circuit in Belgium on 14-15 October for round six of the Belgian Max Challenge series, which the youngster is contesting this season alongside the Turkish Karting Championship.
In the Micro Max class, 15 of the 17 drivers who follow the season took the start. Kolot spent Friday and Saturday on engine tests and practice, then produced the best performance of the season so far on Sunday, in qualifying and the three heats.
After tough, closely fought races in which the running order could change every lap, the young driver finished third in the class and stepped onto the podium. Ömer Asaf set the fastest lap in the first race and missed out on second place by fractions of a second. He summed up the weekend with the following words: "I stood on the podium after achieving a result at this level in an international race for the first time. I am very happy that our long-running work has been rewarded with this result. I would like to thank the Bouvin Power team, who always provide me with the best equipment and technical service, my coach Emre Ergökçen, who has been by my side and trained me in every respect all season, and my family, my biggest supporters, for the opportunities they have given me."
Ömer Asaf Kolot will take the last start of his 2017 season in the seventh and final round of the Turkish Karting Championship, at the Tuzla Karting Park circuit in Istanbul on 4-5 November.
