Ertarman Climbs to Victory at Kemer

The fifth round of the 2016 Turkish Hill Climb Championship, the Kemer Hill Climb, was organised by Antalya Motorsports Club (AMK) on 20-21 August. The event began on the evening of Saturday 20 August with a ceremonial start in front of Kemer Municipality, and in the section of Kemer square closed to traffic the competitors treated motorsport fans to some fine sights.
On Sunday 21 August, after the practice runs, the 11 competitors from Bursa, Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir and Ankara tackled the 6.4-kilometre course, which starts at the Kesme Boğazı location and finishes at Gedelme Plateau, three times.
Bursa's Burak Başlık, last year's Turkish Hill Climb Category 1 champion, took the win in Category 1 in a Citroen Saxo VTS, while experienced competitor Burak Sohtorik was second in a Fiat Palio...
In Category 2, Hakan Ertarman from Bursa, driving a Renault Clio Ragnotti, set the fastest time of the day and also took the "Fastest Run" award with his 04:27.10 on the first run. Nuray Işık in an Opel Corsa S1600 was second, followed by İsa Karol in a Fiat Palio S1600 in third.

Of the two competitors in Category 3, İsmet Toktaş from Bursa in a Honda Civic Type-R EP3 failed to finish after a mechanical failure on the third run, as did last year's champion, Ankara's Refik Bozkurt, in a Renault Sport Clio, who was sidelined on the first run.
In Category 4, last year's Turkish Hill Climb Champion, Ülkü Motorspor driver Ümit Ülkü, won his category once again in a Porsche 997 GT3. Ayhan Germirli from Izmir took second place on the podium in a Renault Clio R3, while Antalya's Kenan Kar, another competitor in Category 3, did not see the finish after a mechanical failure on the final run.

The 2016 Turkish Hill Climb Championship will continue with the ISOK Hill Climb, to be held in Istanbul on 8-9 October.
