EAMS Female Drivers on the Podium
The third round of the Petrol Ofisi Maxima 2024 Turkish Rally Championship, Rally Bodrum, organised by Karya Otomobil Spor Kulübü (KAROSK), took place on 27-28 April. This year, new stages from the Milas region were added to the asphalt stages that showcase Bodrum's natural beauty.
Ege Asal Motorspor competed at Rally Bodrum with four cars in four different categories. In the two-day Turkish Rally Championship round, Ege Asal Motorspor's Kemal Çetinkaya-Tolga Tezeken, driving a Subaru Impreza WRX in Class N, started the rally cautiously and completed the first day in second place. The crew lost a great deal of time on the opening stage of the second day with a turbo failure and were unable to start the day's second stage, retiring from the rally.
In the Celal Gülerhan TOSFED Rally Cup, run within Rally Bodrum, Nusret Bayrakdar-Özgür Şenyüz were running third in Category 2 in their new Citroen C2, but retired with a mechanical failure with two stages remaining. Competing in the same cup, Murat Çetin-Derya Ulus finished sixth in Category 3 after receiving a time penalty.
All of the Ege Asal female competitors who started Rally Bodrum took home trophies, boosting morale for the upcoming rallies. Derya Ulus took the third-place trophy in the female co-drivers' standings. Çiğdem Tümerkan-Zeynep Tümerkan, in a Ford Fiesta R1, won the Celal Gülerhan TOSFED Rally Cup trophy for first place among female drivers and the trophy for second place among co-drivers.
