Berkay Scores Big Success in Italy

Our national karting driver Berkay Besler produced another superb weekend in Italy on 21-22 May. The young driver added another link to his chain of international successes by winning the opening round of the X30 Euro Series.
Consistently in the top three in practice and qualifying at the Castelletto circuit, our representative also set the fastest time in the semi-final warm-up laps. Starting the semi-final from second place, our national driver came very close to victory, setting the fastest lap with a 51.415, but finished second, only a tenth of a second behind Britain's Brett Ward. In the 20-lap final, Berkay Besler dropped back to fourth at the start but moved into the lead on lap six. Praised and admired by the commentator calling the race, our star driver also set the fastest lap of the final with a 51.179 and crowned a flawless drive by taking the chequered flag first, 3.786 seconds ahead of Britain's Brett Ward.
Adding yet another link to his international successes with this win, Berkay Besler said, "I am so happy to have made our national anthem play abroad once again," and now leads the X30 Euro Series standings with 88 points. British drivers occupy second and third places: Brett Ward on 86 points and Hugo Ellis on 82.
