Turkish Crews Triumph in the European Rally Trophy
Our Turkish competitors left the 2021 FIA European Rally Trophy Final, Lausitz Rallye, held in Germany from 4-6 November, with outstanding success.
GP Garage My Team crew Mustafa Çakal-Özgür Akdağ, who finished runner-up in this season's FIA Balkan Rally Trophy, won the FIA European Rally Trophy in their Ankutsan-backed Hyundai i20 NG R5, a major achievement. With this result, the trophy, previously won by the crews of Murat Bostancı-Onur Vatansever in 2015 and Yağız Avcı-Bahadır Gücenmez in 2017, has come to Turkey for the third time after a four-year gap. 
The Ali Türkkan-Onur Vatansever crew, competing for Castrol Ford Team Türkiye in a Ford Fiesta Rally4, followed up their Balkan Rally Trophy success by also completing the 2021 FIA European Rally Trophy season as Junior and 2WD champions.
With this result, Red Bull driver Türkkan became the first Turkish European champion in the Junior category, while Onur Vatansever took the European Rally Trophy 2WD Co-driver title. As a result, all three categories of the 2021 FIA European Rally Trophy, the overall classification, Junior and 2WD, ended in victory for Turkish crews. 
In the rally, run in very cold and rainy conditions and made up of 12 special stages covering a total of 169 km, Sabri Ünver-Aras Dinçer, competing for Castrol Ford Team Türkiye in a Sena Tur-backed Ford Fiesta R5, finished 16th overall in the local classification.
