Avcıoğlu-Korkmaz Battle Through Acropolis Rally

Toksport WRT crew Orhan Avcıoğlu-Burçin Korkmaz, the 2017 Balkan Rally Cup champions who are contesting this year's European Rally Championship, were in Greece from 1-3 June for the third round of the season, Acropolis Rally…
Kolay Oto-backed Avcıoğlu-Korkmaz tackled the gravel event in car number 12, a Skoda Fabia R5, and finished eighth in a field of 34 crews, 16 of which were R5s.
Orhan Avcıoğlu summed up the gruelling rally after the finish: "We were in Lamia, Greece, for Acropolis Rally, the third round of our European Rally Championship programme. Acropolis is the toughest and most punishing event on the calendar, and in our category we were up against 16 R5 cars. On Friday we turned the disadvantage of running second on the road into an opportunity, and started the longest day, Saturday, in 11th place. However, a puncture on the first stage on Saturday forced us to change our strategy. We managed our pace correctly over the remaining five stages that day and ended it in 11th. On Sunday, the road conditions were cleaner and faster, and four stages and three rivals to pass were waiting for us. We raised our tempo a little, left our rivals behind and finished the rally eighth overall."
The European Rally Championship continues with the fourth round of the season, Cyprus Rally, to be held in Southern Cyprus on 15-17 June…
