Avcı Crowned Turkish Champion with Peugeot 208

The final round of the 2016 Turkish Rally Championship, the 43rd Hitit Rally, was organised in Çorum on 28-29 October. With 36 cars and 72 competitors on the start list, the rally began with a spectator special stage in the city centre and ran over two days.

The Peugeot Türkiye-backed Neo Motorspor crew of Yağız Avcı-Bahadır Gücenmez also competed in the season finale with their Peugeot 208 T16 R5, wearing number 2. Having already mathematically secured the Turkish Rally Championship title before this event, Avcı and Gücenmez finished the rally in second place, which also made them runners-up in Class 2, the category for R5 and S2000 cars. Yağız Avcı claimed the fifth Turkish Rally Championship title of his career, while Bahadır Gücenmez became the Turkish Rally Co-Drivers' Champion.

The rally ended on Saturday evening at the finish podium in front of Çorum Municipality, where the 2016 champions Avcı-Gücenmez received their trophies amid strong support from the crowd.
