Avcı Targets Victory in Istanbul

Round 6 of the Turkish Rally Championship, the TÜYAP 37th Istanbul Rally, is being organised by the Istanbul Automobile Sports Club on 24-25 September 2016. The two-day, demanding gravel rally will be held in and around Intercity Istanbul Park.

The rally starts at 14:30 on Saturday 24 September from the Istanbul Park Car Market. On the opening day, the crews will tackle the Göçbeyli and Oruçoğlu stages before competing on the spectator stage at Intercity Istanbul Park from 16:30. Following this stage, the first day of the rally will be complete from 17:30.

On the second day of the rally, the action continues from 10:30 on the Göçbeyli and Oruçoğlu stages. After these two stages have each been run twice, the event concludes at 15:20 with the Redbull.com Power Stage at Intercity Istanbul Park. The crews will complete the TÜYAP 37th Istanbul Rally on the finish podium at İPOP from 15:30.

Ahead of this event, the Peugeot Sport Türkiye-backed Neo Motorspor crew of Yağız Avcı-Bahadır Gücenmez, who lead the Turkish Rally Championship on 73 points, are aiming to complete the Istanbul Rally successfully too. Avcı, who will compete in the Peugeot 208 T16 R5, explained his thoughts ahead of the Istanbul Rally: "With the Istanbul Rally, the penultimate round of the season, we return to gravel. On this rally, which generally has fast stages, we are ready to fight as a crew in the driver and team classifications, and alongside our team-mates in the other categories. We will do everything we can to improve our position in the championship. We wish everyone the best of luck, and we thank everyone who has put in the work."
