Alanya Takes to Off-road Racing

Round 5 of the 2014 Turkish Off-road Championship, organised by the Ankara Nature Sports and Off-road Club ANDOFF with the contribution of the Alanya Off-road Club, was held at the weekend in Türkler, Alanya, Turkey's tourism hub.

Competing for the first time in a Mediterranean city, the crews raced on a course specially prepared for the championship in the Türkler district. With 22 vehicles entered across 4 categories, the crews covered a total of 66 kilometres over the two days.

At the end of the event, İsmail Ayhan and Cemal Akagündüz topped the overall classification. Hüsnü Taylan and Hasan Taylan took second place, while Caner Akkafa and Malik Akkafa completed the podium in third. In Class 1, Engin Başkurt and Şükrü Mindiloğlu took the class win, with İskender Gümüş and Salih Turan second and Murat Balcı and Tayfun Keser third. In Class 2, Caner Akkafa and Malik Akkafa won, ahead of İrfan Özdemir and Beytullah Özener in second and Onur Alptekin and Hayri Tekin in third. In Class 3, Yunus Ayhan and Bilal Karamemiş took the win, with İsmail Ayhan and Cemal Akagündüz second and Ahmet Özsoy and Ali Özsoy third. In Class 4, Hüsnü Taylan and Hasan Taylan took the win, Ahmet Karaca and Serdar Karaca finished second and Mehmet Vurulmuş and Zeynel Doğuçam third. The top finishers received their awards at a ceremony held at the Lonicera World Hotel.

The 2014 Turkish Off-road Championship will conclude with the Istanbul and Sakarya events.
