FIA Rally Commission president Jarmo Mahonen and FIA Safety Delegate Michèle Mouton, along with other officials from the international governing body who came to Marmaris to observe and evaluate the event, said they were impressed by the quality of the stages and the service park.
Representatives of World Rally Championship (WRC) contenders M-Sport World Rally Team and Toyota Gazoo Racing also carried out detailed inspections in the beautiful holiday resort ahead of next year's Rally Marmaris.
World Rally Championship (WRC) promoter director Oliver Ciesla said at the end of the rally: "We wanted to see a rally that was suited to the WRC calendar, and the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, TOSFED, achieved that flawlessly. I congratulate the whole team and celebrate their return to the calendar in 2018. Next year's calendar will be one of the best moments in the sport's history. In Marmaris, the forest stages hug the sea, creating a wonderful backdrop. WRC fans will be treated to superb images in Marmaris."
Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) president Serkan Yazıcı also made a statement: "We have worked really hard to bring the World Rally Championship back to our country, and with the support given to us above all by our President, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and by Minister of Youth and Sports Mr Osman Aşkın Bak, who came to Marmaris to start the rally, we hosted a flawless event. Of course, the Governor of Muğla, our Mayor of Marmaris and all the other officials helped us achieve this success with the support and facilities they provided. We are delighted that the World Rally Championship is returning to our country, and we will work very hard to stage an unforgettable, magnificent event."
