Toktaş Takes Top Spot at Kaynaşlı

Kaynaşlı Hill Climb, the third round of the 2016 Turkish Hill Climb Championship, was held on Sunday 19 May over three runs on a 6km course between Kaynaşlı Dipsizgöl Village and Topuk Plateau.

İsmet Toktaş, competing in a Honda Civic Type-R for Ülkü Motorsport with sponsorship from RMK Mekatronik, had a trouble-free event. With times of 4.05,649, 3.58,598 and 3.55,750, Toktaş set the fastest times in the category and finished the day in first place after three runs.

Speaking after the event, Toktaş said: "Kaynaşlı Hill Climb, which we won last year, was affected by rain this year. On a course where the downhill and fast sections carry particular risk, we gradually raised our pace through practice and tried to maintain the gap to our rival. Even though we had some difficult moments on the track, which the rain had made slippery, we picked up speed as the sun came out for the final run and finished the event as Category 3 winner and third overall."

The Turkish Hill Climb Championship will continue on 18-19 June with the ISOK Hill Climb, organised by the Istanbul Automobile Sports Club.
