Hill Climb Action Continues in Istanbul

Round 6 of the AVIS 2022 Turkish Hill Climb Championship, the Mapfre Sigorta Hill Climb, was held on 1-2 October. It was organised by the Istanbul Automobile Sports Club (İSOK) with Mapfre Sigorta as title sponsor, and with support from Sardunya, the Touring and Automobile Club of Türkiye and Evofone.
With 24 competitors fighting it out across four categories, the event was followed with great interest and excitement by a large crowd of spectators. Over three runs on the 5100-metre course, Sevcan Sağıroğlu took victory in Category 1 for Ülkü Motorsport in a Ford Fiesta R1. İlker Aktaş, also representing Ülkü Motorsport, was second in an Opel Corsa GSI, while Gizem Filiz was third in a Citroen Saxo VTS for Neo Motorsport.
In Category 2, Ülkü Motorsport driver Kaan Kara won in an Opel Corsa GSi. His team-mate Cem Yudulmaz was second in a Ford Fiesta R2, and Berke Yavuz, competing as a privateer in a Citroen Saxo VTS, completed the podium.
In Category 3, Kemal Gürsoy of Ülkü Motorsport was quickest in an Opel Corsa OPC, with Ahmet Keskin of Neo Motorsport second and his team-mate Sevgi Aktürk third in a Ford Fiesta ST.
Ahmet Keskin, who competes with Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality as main sponsor and TurkMotorspor as media partner, completed the three runs at a risk-free pace with points in mind. The young and successful driver lifted his tally to 56, securing the AVIS 2022 Turkish Hill Climb Category 3 title with one round still to go.
Category 4 featured a battle between five Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IXs. Emin Cem Yalın took the win and, with a time of 02:46.88, also claimed the fastest run award. GP Garage My Team's other driver, Selim Bacıoğlu, was second, with team-mate Sinan Soylu third. The teams' award went to Ülkü Motorsport, who fielded six competitors.
The final round of the AVIS 2022 Turkish Hill Climb Championship will be organised by the Eskişehir Automobile Sports Club (ESOK) in Melikgazi, Kayseri, on 29-30 October.
