Countdown Begins for Rally Sarıkamış

Rally Sarıkamış, the opening round of the Petrol Ofisi Maxima 2024 Turkish Rally Championship, will take place on 23-25 February. It is organised by Eski 36 Sports Club with the support of the Kars Governorship, Kars Municipality, Sarıkamış District Governorship and Sarıkamış Municipality, and with sponsorship from Duja Hotels, VST Tour, ICRYPEX, Spor Toto, Remed Assistance, Salados, Power App and Fora Araç Takip.
The Oyman Atabay rally, the first event of the 2024 season, gets under way with a start ceremony in front of Kars Castle at 17:30 on Friday 23 February. From 19:30 the same evening, the Duja spectator stage, built in the Sarıkamış Ski Resort, will be run.
On the second day of the rally, Saturday, six stages will be run, while on Sunday the crews will be back behind the wheel from 08:00. After six more stages, they will complete the season's opening rally with the prize-giving ceremony on the finish podium from 13:20.
Ziya Polat, Governor of Kars and Acting Mayor, said of the event: "Sarıkamış is one of the paradise corners of the world and of our country, a place where the blue of the sky, the green of the Scots pine forests and the crystal-white blanket of snow come together with its history, culture and unique nature, and it is a leading name for quality skiing and winter sports. From 23-25 February 2024 we will host Rally Sarıkamış, the opening round of the Turkish Rally Championship and the only snow rally in the world run at over 2,000 metres. We invite rally fans, adrenaline lovers and all our citizens to this event."
Eren Üçlertoprağı, President of the Turkish Motorsport Federation, added: "We are starting the 2024 season, which will carry the name of our late founding president Oyman Atabay and be run with ICRYPEX as title sponsor, with Rally Sarıkamış, the opening race of the Petrol Ofisi Maxima Turkish Rally Championship. TOSFED always aims to take motorsport out of the big cities and into every corner of our country, and to very different locations. On the way to that goal, it is very valuable that we can receive support from local authorities and local sponsors, as the Kars Governorship has done. We believe that this event, organised by our Eksi 36 Sports Club, will add value to Sarıkamış in terms of tourism as well as providing sporting competition."
