Following talks between the Bodrum Promotion Foundation (BOTAV) and the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, rallying is returning to Bodrum. Organised by Karya Automobile Sports Club under the leadership of BOTAV, Rally Bodrum will be the first rally held on the Bodrum peninsula in 27 years.
Championship-Winning Rally Cars at Oasis Shopping Centre
The rally excitement begins with a display of rally cars at Bodrum's first shopping centre, Oasis, from 2-9 April. In addition, at 17:00 on 9 April 2021, 2015 European Rally Trophy winner Murat Bostancı, 2007-2018 Turkish Rally Champion Burak Çukurova, 2019 Turkish Rally Class N winner Uğur Soylu and 2010 Turkish Historic Rally Champion Kemal Gamgam will meet motorsport fans for a talk and answer their questions at Oasis.
The Champion from Bodrum
Champion driver Kemal Gamgam, a native of Bodrum who first brought an A1 Anadol race car to the area in 1978, said he is hugely excited and proud to be competing in his home town after 27 years. He expressed his feelings with the words: "My grandfather, whose name I carry, Muğla Director of National Education Kemal Mete, is registered in the Milas/Bodrum records. My uncle and my great-uncle were both born in Bodrum. My great-uncle Faik Fethanoğlu was the former Bodrum Meteorology Director. Bodrum and rallying are both very special to me in a 43-year racing career. Bodrum was first introduced to a rally car in 1978, with my Anadol A1 and Serdar Bostancı's STC."
Record Entry for the Rally
With Castrol Ford Team Türkiye, Fiat Motorsporları, BC Vision Motorsport, Evofone Rally Team and GP Garage My Team also taking part, the rally is expected to attract a record entry and the highest number of starters in recent years. BOTAV Rally Bodrum, the opening round of the 2021 Şevki Gökerman Rally Cup, will begin at 18:30 on Saturday 10 April with an opening cocktail reception and start ceremony.
With TED Bodrum College serving as the service park and rally headquarters, the event will start at 08:00 on Sunday 11 April, with the crews tackling six stages in the Yalıçiftlik-Kızılağaç area, and will conclude with the prize-giving ceremony on the finish podium at 17:30.
