Orhan and Burçin Head to WRC with Fabia R5

Since its founding, Toksport WRT has represented Turkey on the global stage in many motorsport events and achieved great success. Now the team is set to make history. The crew of Orhan Avcıoğlu and Burçin Korkmaz is preparing to compete in the World Rally Championship's WRC2 category on the team's behalf.
By competing in a Skoda Fabia R5 in the final two rallies of the season, Avcıoğlu and Korkmaz will set a first for Turkey. Avcıoğlu becomes the first Turkish driver to enter the WRC2 category of the World Rally Championship, regarded as one of the world's best-known and biggest motorsport series.
Orhan Avcıoğlu and Burçin Korkmaz will start Rally Catalunya in Spain, which runs from 5-8 October. Having completed all preparations for the rally's mixed tarmac and gravel stages, Avcıoğlu is also investing in the future for the WRC category, thanks to the feedback that will be gathered in WRC2.
Speaking about this important step, Avcıoğlu hinted at big ambitions: "As Toksport, our WRC2 programme begins with Rally Catalunya and Wales Rally GB, and our aim is to start following the 2018 championship right now. In the World Championship, the WRC2 category stands out as the series with the highest level of competition for R5 class cars. We need experience to succeed here. With the vision of 2018 and the years beyond, we see these two events as an important preparation process, and we are going there to gain experience."
Toksport WRT drivers Orhan Avcıoğlu and Burçin Korkmaz, who currently lead the Balkan Rally Cup, will continue to gain WRC2 experience after Rally Catalunya by contesting Rally GB in Great Britain.
