Bostancı Makes Fast Start in Marmaris

The first day has been completed at Rally Marmaris, a dress rehearsal for the World Rally Championship and the final round of the Balkan Rally Cup within the European Rally Cup.
At the event organised by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) with the support of the Muğla Governorship, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Ula Municipality, Marmaris Municipality and the Muğla Provincial Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, the overall leader after day one is the Murat Bostancı-Onur Vatansever crew from Castrol Ford Team, driving a Ford Fiesta R5. Second overall at the end of the day is Orhan Avcıoğlu-Burçin Korkmaz of Toksport WRT in a Skoda Fabia R5, with Yağız Avcı-Bahadır Gücenmez third in a Peugeot 208 T16 for Neo Motorsport.
In the ERT2 category, Alexandros Tsoulaftas-Antonis Chrystomou from the Greek Cypriot side of Cyprus, competing for Toksport WRT in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, lead the way, while in ERT3 the Buğra Banaz-Gürkal Menderes crew from Castrol Ford Team, driving a Ford Fiesta R2, are in front. In the historic class of the rally, which has 41 cars and 82 competitors from Turkey and abroad, the day-one leaders are the Engin Kap-Başar Yavuz crew from Parkur Racing in a Ford Escort MKII.
Seven more stages will be run at Rally Marmaris tomorrow, and the event will conclude at 16:30 with a prize-giving ceremony on the finish podium at 19 Mayıs Gençlik Meydanı.
