Uğur Soylu Leads in Kocaeli
The first day of the Kocaeli Büyükşehir Rally ended with the GP Garage My Team crew of Uğur Soylu and Soner Tamer in the lead.
Evofone-backed Soylu is followed, 16.4 seconds behind, by Can Alakoç and Bilge Ayan of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye, with Alakoç also leading Class 3. Eytan Halfon and Gürkal Menderes of GP Garage My Team completed the day, which covered five special stages, in third place.
The Team Petrol Ofisi crew of Kerem Kazaz and Ross Whittock, who had led the rally after the first three stages, suffered an alternator belt problem on the fourth stage and retired at the start of the day's final stage.
In the 2WD category and Class 4, Yıldıray Demircioğlu and Koray Akgün are leading, while in the Behiç Yurdaçalışan TOSFED Rally Cup, Ömer Güneş and Ege Can Ünlü finished the day in first place.
The event will conclude tomorrow, after four more special stages, with a prize-giving ceremony on the finish podium at Kocaeli Milli İrade Square from 16:00.
