Kemal Gamgam Reviews His 2024 Season
Parkur Racing driver Kemal Gamgam, who finished the 2024 season as Turkish Historic Rally Champion and Historic Category 2 winner, looked back on the season for turkmotorspor.com readers and shared his goals for 2025.
Aegean Rally
2024 was a farewell year for the Escort Mk2, and I had a really good season. The Aegean Rally in Marmaris was a superb way to start the year. On the Akyaka stage, which runs along the seaside, you felt like stopping to take photos.
Favourite stage: SS 10 Akyaka
Rally Bodrum
The second event of the season took place in Bodrum, my home town… A great organisation, and for me the stages and locations were all superb. Among the stages, I would pick out the Çamlık stage.
Favourite stage: SS 7-10 Duja Hotels
Yeşil Bursa Rally
Bursa Automobile Sports Club is one of the clubs I value most. But on this rally, I filed the agony of the ceremonial start away as one of the hardships of rallying.
Favourite stage: SS 6-8 Downtown
Eskişehir Rally
Eskişehir is my father's home town. Everything about the organisation was superb. I congratulate Eskişehir Automobile Sports Club ESOK on the work done at Kent Ormanı. With a little more development, it will be perfect.
Favourite stage: SS 1 Kent Ormanı
Kocaeli Rally
It was superb, as always. Moving the ceremonial start from the city centre to the service park was a very smart decision. All the stages were great, but because of my own mistake we suffered a technical failure and could not finish this rally.
Favourite stage: All of them
Istanbul Rally
Apart from the number the organisation gave to the Escort Mk2, which I will now keep in my garage, everything was perfect. The service park inside Istanbul Park was superb. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the season.
Favourite stage: SS 6-8 Remed Assistance
2025 Plans
This season I will compete in Category 3 of the TOSFED Rally Cup with a Group A Opel Astra GSI for Parkur Racing. As disappointed as I am, we were unable to secure enough entries in historic. I have put a proposal to our Federation that historic licence and entry fees be the same as those for the TOSFED Cup. I hope this request is accepted. I wish everyone a safe, healthy 2025 season.
