Karting Champions Crowned at Körfez

The seventh and final round of the Turkish Karting Championship, organised by the Istanbul Karting and Automobile Club (İKOK), was held at the Körfez Karting Circuit on 5 November. Zekai Özen in Mini, Mert Dalkıran in Formula Junior, Berkay Besler in Formula Senior and Mehmet Çınar in Formula Masters were the drivers who took both the day and the season... The event began on Saturday 5 November with practice and qualifying, and three races were run in every class to determine the final classification.
There was a fierce fight among seven drivers in the Mini class, which is open to drivers aged 7 to 12. Zekai Özen took the win, with Ömer Asaf Kolot second and Kerim Sulyak third. In the points battle between title contenders Ömer Asaf Kolot and Zekai Özen, Özen came out on top by a single point and became the 2016 Turkish Karting Championship Mini class champion.
In the Formula Junior class, Mert Dalkıran, who represented Turkey in the FIA CIK Karting Academy this season, secured both the win and the Turkish title in his class, followed by young female driver İzel Karasu from the Kocaeli region.

In the Formula Senior class, national team driver Berkay Besler won two of the day's three races and took the overall victory. Fellow national team driver Mert Dalkıran finished the day second, while young driver Gün Taşdelen was third. With this victory, Besler claimed the Turkish Karting Championship title for the fifth consecutive time...

In the Formula Masters class, Mehmet Çınar won two of the three races to take the day, with last year's champion Mehmet Yaman from Izmir second and Cem Yudulmaz third. With this win, Mehmet Çınar completed the season as Formula Masters champion.
