Favourites Untroubled in Karting

Round 5 of the 2017 Turkish Karting Championship was held by TOSFED at the Körfez Racing Circuit on 23-24 September. Across four categories, each contested over three races – Mini (open to ages 7-12), Formula Junior (ages 13-16), Formula Senior (15 and over) and Formula Master (32 and over) – 22 drivers took part over the weekend.
In Mini, 10-year-old national team driver Ömer Asaf Kolot took the top step of the podium with three wins from three races, while Kerim Sülyak finished second and Yiğit Arslan third.
In Formula Junior, successful national team driver Mert Dalkıran added another victory to his winning streak, with Zekai Özen second and Ömer Asaf Kolot, in his first Junior outing, completing the podium in third.
In Formula Senior, another successful national team driver, Gün Taşdelen, was first under the chequered flag in all three races, banking valuable championship points. Mert Dalkıran finished second in the category, with Üstün Üstünkaya third.
The veterans' class, Formula Master, ended in victory for Mehmet Çınar, who won all three races, with Emre Gülkan second and Mehmet Yaman third.
The 2017 Turkish Karting Championship continues with Round 6 on 7-8 October, organised by OTOSK - Bursa Professional Motorsport Club at the renovated Bursa Nilüfer Karting Circuit, which will host karting races for the first time in a long while.
