Seconds Decide It at Kartepe

The second round of the AVIS 2023 Turkish Hill Climb Championship was held on 24-25 June in Kartepe, Kocaeli, with 31 competitors entered across 5 categories. Organised by Kocaeli Otomobil Spor Kulübü (KOSK) with the support of ICRYPEX, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Kartepe Municipality, the event proved to be a closely fought one.
On Sunday 25 June, over three runs on the 6-kilometre course, Atış Motorsport's Sevcan Sağıroğlu took victory in Category 1, while Ülkü Motorsport's İbrahim Cabacı finished second and team-mate İlker Aktaş completed the podium in third. In Category 2, Atış Motorsport's Tuncer Sancaklı was the fastest of the day, while in Category 3 Atış Motorsport's Burak Başlık took the win.
Team-mate Murat Soyçopur took second, with Neo Motorspor's Eda Soylu third. In Category 4, Ülkü Motorsport's Ümit Ülkü took the win and also set the best time of the day with 03:18.63. In this category, GP Garage My Team's Cem Yalın finished the day second, while Atış Motorsport's İsmet Toktaş took third.
In Category 5, Ülkü Motorsport's Bahadır Sevinç took victory, with Cemil Memiç second. Atış Motorsports won the teams' classification, while in the women's classification the wins were shared by Sevcan Sağıroğlu in Category 1, Eda Soylu in Category 3 and Kübra Denizci in Category 4.
The AVIS 2023 Turkish Hill Climb Championship continues with the third round, organised by Bursa Otomobil Sporları Kulübü (BOSSEK) at Gemlik Şahintepe on 15-16 July.
