Castrol Ford Team Türkiye will contest round two of the 2017 European Rally Championship, Rally Islas Canarias, from 4-6 May with four team members. Having finished the opening round, the Azores Rally in Portugal, fifth in the teams' standings, CFTT is aiming for another successful return from the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean for the second event of the season...

On Rally Islas Canarias, the first asphalt event on the 2017 European Rally Championship calendar, which is being run for the 41st time this year, Turkey will be represented by Murat Bostancı-Onur Vatansever in a Ford Fiesta R5 and by Buğra Banaz-Burak Erdener in a Ford Fiesta R2T.

Banaz-CFTT_ERC2017-AzoresCastrol Ford Team Türkiye's Turkish champion Murat Bostancı gave his assessment ahead of the Canaries rally: "After the Azores Rally, which was a completely new event for us, we continue the European Rally Championship with Rally Islas Canarias. I think having contested and finished this rally last year in the Fiesta R2T will give me an advantage, but both of these events have their own particular conditions and are stages where local knowledge counts for a lot. My aim is to run a quick but measured pace and finish this rally in the top 10, so that I can then step up to the highest tempo on the Greece and Cyprus rallies, which are the events where we will be the real contenders this season.

Turkish Rally Junior Champion Buğra Banaz, the team's young driver from Eskişehir, explained what the event means to him: "Competing in Europe teaches me the level of competition at world standard. We are learning big lessons and getting faster every day with our Ford Fiesta R2T. Everything feels like a dream for me right now!.."

CFTT_ERC2017-AzoresRally Islas Canarias gets under way on Thursday 4 May and can be followed through Castrol Ford Team Türkiye's social media accounts, at www.fiaerc.com and on the ERC (European Rally Championship) programme broadcast on Eurosport on 5-6 May. A total of 65 cars are entered for the European Rally Championship, with 125 entries in all.
