Bursa-Built Clio Rally 5 Tops Its Class

As well as being the fifth round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar, WRC Rally Turkey 2020 also hosted two separate rounds of the Turkish Rally Championship, with the stages held on the Marmaris and Datça peninsula between 18 and 20 September. Toksport WRT, competing with the Clio RS built at OYAK Renault Otomobil Fabrikaları in Bursa, took the top step of the podium in Class 5.
A total of 65 cars entered WRC Rally Turkey, which is known for having the toughest and most punishing conditions on the calendar: 26 international and 39 national. The Clio Rally 5, run under the Toksport WRT banner with Renault Group support, produced a faultless rally despite being part of the championship for the first time this season, and won on both days.
After the podium, drivers Yiğit Timur and Ufuk Uluocak reflected on the rally: "We think we showed in this rally that our new car is as robust as we expected, and that it has the performance to challenge the higher classes if required. It's certainly a very good entry-level option for this sport. We will continue testing our car over the coming months and carry on our preparations for 2021."
The next round of the Turkish Rally Championship, organised by TOSFED, is expected to be held at Kocaeli Körfez Yarış Pisti on a date to be set by TOSFED in line with COVID-19 conditions.
