Turkish Rally Championship Season Gets Under Way with Rally Bodrum

The excitement in the Shell Helix 2022 Turkish Rally Championship, organised by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED), begins with Rally Bodrum in Bodrum, Muğla, on 15-17 April. Organised last season by Karya Otomobil Spor Kulübü as a candidate event for the championship, the rally will this year be held with national status as the opening round of the championship. Having won the Jury Special Award in the "Best Sports Event" category at last year's ACE of MICE Awards for Congress, Meeting and Event Excellence, becoming the first and only rally to receive an award, the event will this year offer motorsport fans a weekend full of excitement and adrenaline.
Held with the support of Bodrum Municipality and expanded this year to cover a large part of the peninsula, the event will begin with a start ceremony at Bodrum Square on Friday evening, 15 April. Turkey's fastest drivers will then compete on 16-17 April, tackling six different special stages twice each. In a statement, Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras said the event would contribute to sports tourism in Bodrum and stressed the importance of the added value that sporting events bring to the town. He also added that they were pleased the rally, run last year with local status, would this year be held at national level, and that they hope to see motorsport on the international stage in Bodrum in the future.
